Quiet and calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a little village Hulhundu stands majestically on high land of the region of Chotanagpur on the State highway from Ranchi to Chaibasa. The Sacred Heart School story began in 1962, when two zealous nuns Sr. Jean Francois and Sr. Stanislas belonging to the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary Congregation came from the Head Quarters at Amritsar (Punjab) to Ranchi with the idea of laying the foundation of what is today a very flourishing and well known educational institution.
Sr. Mechtilda and Sr. Ivonne (and Sr. Alberta) arrived on 22nd February 1962. They surveyed the surroundings on which today stands the Convent of our Lady of Fatima. This barren piece of land, 14 km from Ranchi, had only shrubs and three thatched huts, one of which served as a convent for the Sisters. They were later joined by two daughters of the Soil, Sr. Vimala and Sr. Thomasina.
Today, Sacred Heart School stands proud and poised for greater things to come. The education imparted has generated in students a will to strive for perfection. We can proudly declare that a good number of our students have gone in for Medicine, Engineering Management and have their wings spread out beyond boundaries in higher learning and excellent performance in different spheres of life.
The multifaceted activities of Sacred Heart School include sports, Elocution, Dramatics, Debates, Quiz and Socially Useful Productive Work. Following the traditions of Indian culture, we have made dancing and singing an integral part of its curriculum and we impart complete education to develop intellectual, physical, moral and spiritual endowments, whereby Sacred Heartians become intellectually mature, socially efficient, culturally refined, morally virtuous and spiritually advanced.
Here, amidst the tranquil and verdant surroundings, different programmes are conducted so that students imbibe the beauty of nature, become socially aware, practice concentration of mind understand and develop their own potentialities.
The success of Sacred Heart School lies in the absolute commitment and dedication of teachers, earnestness in students with an equally balanced co-operation of the parents. We are not content to rest on our laurels. We hope to make great ideas to take shape. Our quest for perfection will drive us on always. Education does not mean reading and writing or acquiring knowledge alone. It is the godliness in a woman that makes her educated and a truly educated woman is a boon to the society. It is this aspect of education and its impact on society that paved the way for the beginning of Sacred Heart School. We aim at helping our students to become good human beings who are able to make a difference in the society.
